With the invitation to the 3rd SIEGEL Congress in Cologne on 4th of March 2020, we were able to present our visions for „Vocational Orientation 2030“. Under the patronage of the Minister for Schools and Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, Mrs. Yvonne Gebauer, we were able to represent the city region of Aachen alongside ten other SIEGEL schools from all over North Rhine-Westphalia.
Our focus on „Digitisation & Focus on Traditional Crafts“, which has emerged from the ErasmusPlus project and is now to be established in study and career orientation, aroused great interest among many congress visitors. The question was asked several times as to why we, as a grammar school in particular, are setting out to bring craft trades to the fore. Our openness in this way not only inspired the other SIEGEL schools but also representatives from trade, business and science.
Our stand was accordingly besieged throughout the day. It was unanimously welcomed that the ErasmusPlus project group made the importance and diversity of traditional professions and training opportunities tangible and to be experienced, so that the topic of career guidance arouses enthusiasm among the students. The idea of combining „exploring occupational fields“ and „using digital tools (geocaching)“ inspired the visitors and thus was taken home by many of the school representatives. We are taking a lot of encouragement for the ErasmusPlus project and the integration of the project results into study and career guidance in our future work.
